Here are some pictures of hikes I have been on with the Oak Ridges Trail Association. Some people are having challenges manipulating the thumbnail pages, so I created this HELP file. (Click on HELP). If you have a Facebook account, please consider joining our Oak Ridges Trail Group.

• Mon. Dec 21, 2009. York Region Forest Hall Tract, ORTA map 4. 2+hrs. Slow to moderate pace. Well mannered dogs welcome. Sheltered forested trails. Boots/icers/Snowshoes depending on the weather. Bring a drink and snacks. Going for lunch after. Wilma and Brian

  Another good hike. No wind, but a bit chilly. Also a little slippery but icers not really needed.

• Wed. Dec 16, 2009. Aurora. Annual Christmas Party hike. Loop hike of ORTA Nokiidaa Trail and town trails. 10km. 2.5hrs. Easy pace. Dress for the weather. Party to follow at home of Brian and Wilma at 12:30. Russ Burton

  A fairly large crowd joined Russ for this annual hike. It was a bit on the windy side, but everyone enjoyed themselves. Afterwards on to the Christmas party, where more people joined us. So thanks to Russ, Brian & Wilma for this great day of celebration.

• Mon. Dec 7, 2009. 6th Annual Millage Anniversary Hike. Uxbridge. ORTA map 5. Walker Tract, loop hike 2 to 2.5 hrs. Slow to moderate pace. Well-mannered dogs are welcome. Sheltered, winding trails through mature forest. Join us for lunch afterwards. Wilma and Brian

  A large crowd joined Brian and Wilma for this special hike. 59 people in all. It was another great hike and afterwards we filled Fast Eddies.

• Mon. Nov 23, 2009 York Region Forest. Eldred King Woodlands and Scout Tract. ORTA map 4. Loop hike – 2 to 2.5 hrs. Slow / moderate pace. Forested and meadow trails. Some moderate hills, ponds and sandy areas. Well-mannered dogs are welcome. Meet in parking lot, W side of Hwy 48, 2.7km N of Ballantrae/Aurora Rd. Bring water and snack. Join us for lunch afterwards. Wilma and Brian

  Brian & Wilma were in Cuba so Diane & I led it. We only had half as many as last week. They were lumbering in woodlands, but we skirted around them. It's hard to take pictures when you are leading.

• Mon. Nov 9, 2009 Secord Forest (Uxbridge). ORTA map 5. Loop hike 2 to 2.5 hrs, slow to moderate pace. Well-mannered dogs are welcome. Come and enjoy this unique area of scenic ponds, meadows and forested trails.. Join us for lunch afterwards. Wilma and Brian

• Wed. Oct 28, 2009. Dundas Valley CA.Hike throughDundas Valley Conservation Area on the way to spectacular Sherman Falls and even more impressive Tiffany Falls. Don't miss this twice yearly sharing of stories and good fellowship. Bob Ellison

  Some great scenery. Unfortunatly it was overcast and we had no sun to bring out the fantastic colours and scenoury. Bob had a sore leg & could not lead us, but we found our way with Garry's great help.

• Mon. Oct 26, 2009 Palgrave Forest. ORTA map 1, loop hike, 2 to 2.5 hrs. Slow/mod social outing along a variety of scenic forested trails with streams and ponds. Possible beaver sighting. Join us for lunch afterwards in Schomberg. Well-mannered dogs are welcome. Wilma and Brian Millage

  35 hikers joined Brian & Wilma for this 8.8 km hike Another good day. And no rain!

• Mon, Oct 19, 2009 Tottenham, ORTA map 1 and update. 8 km, 3 hours, easy slow-moderate pace along Tottenham Side Trail (old rail line) and then a loop in the Conservation Area. Bring drinks and snacks. Lunch option after the hike. Stan

  A perfect day for my first hike after the summer. No hills so it was easy walking.

• Wed. May 20, 2009. Harold's fond adieu to the Dundas hikes, part 14, led by Bob Ellison. Vertical caves and fissures await us as we ascend Mount Nemo. Moderate 14 km there and back. Everyone is welcome back to Bob & Maureen's for libations and victuals to celebrate Harold's 13th visit to Dundas and over 700 hikes for ORTA

  This was a fantastic hike with lots of great scenery. It was a bit rugged in places, but a great hike.

• Sat Apr 25, 2009 Impromptu hike with Harold. From Keele St to Gate house ST. Then we will circle back at slow to moderate pace. About 6 km. Bring a lunch if you plan to join us. Bob & Diane 905-833-5908

  We thought it would be just us joining Harold, but Diana also started her hike from here to join Harold. So Harold had quit a group with him for a while.

• Mon. Apr 12 2009.Uxbridge (map 5), Walker Woods - Easter Monday holiday hike - 2-2.5 hrs - slow to moderate - well mannered dogs welcome. Bring some friends on this Easter Monday along the sheltered winding trails as we search for Easter bunnies and their eggs in this beautiful forest. Brian and Wilma

• Mon. Apr 6, 2009. Puck’s Farm ORT 4th Ed. Map 1 King West. 6.5 km loop. 2.5 hours. Slow pace. Stan Butcher

  Stan could not get back in time, so I led this hike. 4 of us braved the stormy driving conditions to get there. It was a scenic T & B hike with a little snow and wind, but still a pleasent hike.

• Mon. Mar 30, 2009. Uxbridge ORT (map 5) Walker Woods/ Al Shaw Trail -. 2-2.5 hrs. Slow to moderate loop hike. Well mannered dogs welcome. Snowshoes? Boots? Your choice…. Gently rolling, forested trails. Bring a warm drink and snacks. Brian and Wilma

• Mon. Mar 23, .2009 King East ORT (Guidebook 4th Ed. Map 2) Lake Seneca and the King Campus Trails. Loop hike, 6 km, slow pace, 2.5 hrs.Meet at the roadside parking where the ORT Main Trail crosses Keele Street, 0.7 km north of 15th side road of King Township (Bloomington Road), 2 km north of King City. Hiking boots recommended. Bring a drink and snacks. Lunch option in King City. Bob and Diane

  28 people enjoyed this great hike around Eaton lake. (of course I'm biased) We got off the main trail & followed a bicycle track to avoid the ice. and then safely found our way back to the ORT . More pictures on Jurgan's facebook

• Mon. Mar 16. 2009 Durham Forest - March Break - great opportunity to bring the kids along - (map 5) Uxbridge ORT and Trans Canada Trail. 2.5 hrs. Slow to moderate. Rolling forested terrain. Brian or Wilma

• Mon. Mar 9. 2009. King East ORT (Guidebook 4th Ed. Map 2) Mary Lake and Millar Side-trail. Loop hike, 6 km, slow pace, 2.5 hrs. Bob and Diane

  A group of enthusiastic hikers joined us for this pleasant 6.7 km hike. Sorry no movies! Can't take these and lead a hike.
